Title Image Follies [1] ['View Profile', 'Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood', 'Bill In Portland Maine', 'The Boss Gomez'] Date: 2026-05-14 This article may look a bit long, but it is actually short — just lots of screenshots. It will run through the procedure to select an image for your story. Since it’s easiest (I think) to do that right after typing in your title, that’s how I’ll do it here. If you have already posted a story, but did not manage to get your preferred pic selected as title image, you can skip forward to Step 2. [But I may need to tweak that a bit, as per my previous comment-posts. Check for an update at the bottom of this article later.] The steps, briefly, are 1) Click on WRITE STORY to enter the story editor. 2) Type in your title. Select SETTINGS icon, if not already selected. 3) Select Community Post, if not already selected. 4) Upload your image, or just select from Media Library. 5) Click on Title Image tab: Done! Once you have done it a couple of times I think you’ll find it intuitive. Now, to details, and screenshots. Step 1) From your regular Daily Kos window, click on WRITE STORY tab, to the left of your avatar. Step 2) Where it says “Add title” type in your title. Step 3) Roll-over the SETTINGS icon to the left of the PUBLISH (top-right corner), then click on it. It should bring up a vertical tab with headings Community Post and Element. If that tab is already visible — happens for me sometimes — then you don’t need to click on SETTINGS. Note color change on the SETTINGS icon. While you are there, roll-over the VIEW icon to the left of SETTINGS, and note hardware options, plus (!!) Preview in New Tab, which you will want to do later. Step 4) In the vertical tab underneath SETTINGS and PUBLISH, select Community Post, if it is not already selected. Now select Title Image – crucial step! Step 5) The Featured Image screen: Upload Files > Select Files from your computer (Browse/Select/Open) or you can just go to Media Library and pick an existing image. Step 6) From Media Library, your uploaded file should already be selected, or do it now. Note a) blue checkmark in the top-right corner, and b) it also appears in the Community Post tab, on the right. But it is not yet the title image (!) so now: Click on Title Image, at the bottom of the Community Post tab. Now your Featured Image is your Title Image! Basically: done. Then click on VIEW icon (to the left of the SETTINGS icon, top-right of screen) and confirm that you have a story with a) a title and b) a title image. When you go back to the editor you will NOT see your title image; that’s “normal” for WordPress, apparently. If any part if this procedure is unclear or incorrect please let me know in comments, and I will reply with clarifications, within a couple of hours. If you are someone who has been able to upload images, but not make your image a title image, I think if you start at Step 2, find your existing image and continue from there, you should be okay. But if not, let me know and I’ll see if I can clarify. I have not “been there” myself yet. I am willing to sacrifice myself, publish a story with the dreaded curlicue people, and see if I can correct it — then reply with specifics in comments or update, or perhaps write a separate article for that case. Good luck!
