It turns out that both of these issues were caused by privacy settings. Server Error When Voting On Polls This is apparently a known issue with this polling plug-in — it’s been a problem for nearly five years. It’s caused by the privacy settings in your browser. The only reason that cookies are used by the poll is to track if someone’s already voted, if the poll owner has set it to allow voting only once, so this should never have been added to “tracking” lists in the first place, but trying to reach a human who works on this software also seems to be impossible. We are going to try to intercept this error and make it more descriptive so at least people know why it’s happening, but the bottom line is that if voting on that particular poll is important to you and you’re seeing this error, the only way to fix it is by disabling ad blockers/privacy settings. Post Button Grayed Out In Safari This fix is also privacy setting-related. In Safari, if you go to Settings -> Privacy -> Advanced, you will see a checkbox: “Use advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection”. That box needs to be un-checked in order for the POST button to work. I do understand that people have privacy settings for a reason, this is just practical information about how to fix these problems if you’re seeing them. Thank you for your help this week — even when we can’t “solve” problems ourselves, at least knowing what is happening is helpful.
