[1] ['View Profile', 'Meteor Blades', 'Momma O', 'Chloris Creator', 'Greg Dworkin'] Date: 2026-04-29 Jim Crow is brazenly rearing its ugly head again. Not just in the South. Unfortunately, the poisonous, smoldering infection of intolerance and hypocrisy has spread like wildfire throughout America, undermining the moral fabric of the religious right, of conservative legislators who swore an oath to the Constitution, and now conservatives on the Supreme Court. The following are just a few examples of Jim Crow 2.0. According to U.S. News, legislatures in at least 20 states have recently passed laws based on Charlie Kirk’s religious philosophy. That includes a law that prohibits college students from protesting against speakers on campuses. White Supremacists now have Trump’s ‘permission’ to openly and brazenly support their hatred and violence against others. The Charlottesville rally a few years ago was a demonstration of the havoc they are ready to use against anyone they consider unacceptable. The same goes for all the January 6th felons who Trump just pardoned. Trump’s private law firm (i.e., the Justice Department) has filed a lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center based on devious propaganda and twisted lies. Is it any coincidence that the SPLC has been the premiere agency fighting Trump’s favorite supporters (i.e., hate groups and White Supremacists) for decades? For decades, Trump has demonstrated his disapproval of Blacks and minorities. Remember the Central Park Five? How about the lawsuit against Trump when he was a landlord violating tenants’ rights? And then there was Trump’s bold announcement to his brown shirt buddies to “stand by”? Overall, Trump’s lack of humanity toward disadvantaged groups is symbolized by the carte blanche he has given to Stephen Miller to steer ICE policies with cruelty and lawlessness. At least 44 migrants have already died while in ICE custody, two Minneapolis citizens were murdered by ICE without any follow-up investigation by the Feds, and Dilley’s detention center in Texas has deplorable and inhumane conditions, etc., etc. As of today, the Supreme Court has completely gutted the Voting Rights Act with its decision to make gerrymandering a right under the U.S. Constitution. In short, the conservative Justices have just twisted themselves into anti-democracy, anti-Constitution pretzels with their ruling. They are now doing the very thing Republicans have been accusing Democratic judges of doing (i.e., being activist judges). And then there’s the proliferation of a variety of political violence in America. Trump constantly feeds everyone’s anger and frustration — on the left as well as on the right — with his rhetoric and vindictive retribution against his long list of “enemies”. He keeps fueling a climate of hypocrisy and intolerance in which agreeing to disagree is verboten, Congress remains dysfunctional, and the Golden Rule is ignored. It’s no accident that the animosity toward immigrants coincides with Trump’s full-blown propagandizing about immigrants and minorities. His anti-Muslim rhetoric during his first term, his conspiracy-based controversy about Obama’s birth certificate, his demonization of Mexican immigrants who are “rapists” and Somalis, and his dismantling of DEI policies, are just part of the pattern of Trump’s plan to undermine our democratic principles. The future does not look good. Unless Trump and his Christian nationalists suddenly have a change of heart and become more tolerant and accepting, America will suffer through a continued increase in Jim Crow laws and violence. Our cultural norm will become less democratic and filled with hateful vindictiveness and violence. Plus, that will give Trump the excuse he needs to militarize our cities.
