There’s no need to get into Trump’s comment’s on The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Decoding anything he says detracts from what Trump was told about the ongoing needs of the Reflecting Pool. Based upon the Wiki article I linked to above, The Reflecting Pool has had a series of issues for years, despite undergoing a major renovation around 2010-2011.

Algae and parasites have caused the pool to be drained and cleaned on several occasions. Going from potable water to recirculating water from the Tidal Basin may have been a contributing factor, but who knows without a comprehensive study. The Wiki article doesn’t cover if there were the same amount of problems with the water before the change. Resurfacing the pool won’t change the problem with the water.

How about adding fountains? Well, adding fountains would disturb the surface and it would no longer be a reflecting pool. Maybe going back to potable water and adding more chlorine might. But also consider creating moving water by recirculating the water from end to end, with intake at one end and output on the other.

I’m not an expert, I’m just spit-balling. What have you got?

I could see Trump adding palm trees next and hiring models in bikinis to hang out being his next update. After all, he does know a few guys who have modeling companies.
