Interview with Sherrilyn Ifill [1]

I don’t write diaries here because I fret over every word. Plus, I’m busy at work and y’all seem to hit the highlights way faster than I ever could, which I appreciate greatly.

I haven’t seen anyone post this and it’s not my original content, but it’s one of the best interviews I’ve watched in a very long time. Ms. Ifill is amazingly well spoken, articulate, and engaging. She is also brutally honest about what is going on in this country, how we got here, and where we need to go after the current regime is defeated.

I particularly liked her analysis of the SCOTUS. “They’re not up to the job.” “They want simple answers.” She didn’t call them out on their racism, not directly, but it becomes obvious by what they say and do.

I liked her approach that we are going to need to do a lot of work, not just to undo Trumpism, but to remedy the things that were there long before he came on the scene or we’ll end up right back here again.

Anyway, it’s long, but it’s worth every minute. I’d love to hear all y’all’s thoughts too. She provides a lot of topics to discuss, all of them very relevant to now and things we as folks who value democracy need to confront and address.
