Childcare Advocate Aly Richards Joins Race for Governor (VT) A second Democrat is entering the race to unseat Republican Gov. Phil Scott. Aly Richards, chair of the University of Vermont Medical Center board and former CEO of childcare advocacy group Let’s Grow Kids, announced her candidacy on Monday ahead of a campaign launch later in the morning in her hometown of Newbury. Richards, who lives in Montpelier, had been rumored for weeks to be gearing up for a run. She told Seven Days in early March that she was seriously considering one. Her official announcement took place Monday morning at the Newbury Village Store. www.sevendaysvt.com/...

DMFI launches attack ad against Ammar Campa-Najjar Democratic Majority for Israel PAC has launched a negative TV ad against Navy Reserve officer Ammar Campa-Najjar, who is one of several Democrats competing in the June 2 top-two primary for California’s open 48th District. The commercial accuses Campa-Najjar, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2018 and 2020, of walking back his past anti-abortion stances. It also plays a clip from his 2020 campaign where Campa-Najjar says, “I ran for Congress to work with Trump.” The spot does not touch on Israel or any other related topics. San Diego City Councilmember Marni von Wilpert, whom DMFI supports, is also not mentioned in this commercial. www.the-downballot.com/...
