Race Is A Fraud

Race is a fraud. Unfortunately, racism isn’t. Like a lot of “isms” it has no foundation in fact or truth. It is better described as hate-ism. Just another vector of malice by those whose intellectual and emotional prowess flaps in the breeze whichever way the wind blows. They’ll find some reason to hate you, just give them a minute.

Hang in their troops, this won’t take long.

Skin color does have an easy explanation. How would I know that? Who am I to say? I was born and raised in Minneapolis, you know, the place where Trump goons throw people onto the ground and empty their magazines into them in self-righteous, yep you guessed it, hate-ism. But that isn’t the reason. No, my credentials stem from the geographic fact that greater Minneapolis straddles the 45th parallel of latitude. You know, half way between the equator and the north pole. That makes me special, well especially aware that skin color is a matter of latitude, anyway.

If your people came from north of the 45th, (I’m talking thousands, not hundreds of years) then sunlight gets scarce in the winter, even going away completely for a while. That causes a problem. Your skin creates Vitamin D, necessary for strong bones and such. It uses ultraviolet light to make it. So light skin means better use of the UV light it does get.

If your people come from south of the 45th, an overabundance of that same UV light can cause skin cancer without some sort of protection. What gives skin a darker color is melanin, produced by melanocytes, the defenders of the skin beneath. Gotta have it or you and yours die out pretty quickly.

That wasn’t so hard, was it? The point is absorption or reflection of UV light. UV is like gold, if there’s isn’t much of it, its precious. But it is still a heavy metal, like lead. And if it was as abundant as lead in the environment, it would be as dangerous as lead.

So race is a fraud. I’m just people, same as you. And you don’t have to like it. Personally, I’d rather be a superhero. I’ve got a whole shopping list of super powers I’d help myself to. Problem is I haven’t figured out how to get there yet. Working on it.
