Let's Call It "ICE-WASHING," Shall We? [1]

The photo above is a random example of the way ICE conducted public relations up until Bruce Springsteen began singing “The Streets of Minneapolis.” I think that was the point that the fascists running this country decided that they had a “cleanup on aisle DHS” to do.

So, as you’ll see below, the fix they engineered is currently underway in select airports. It’s “Nice-ICE,” as the DHS might have already branded it internally. No masks, mostly young folks, and a surprisingly large percentage of them are non-white! I took note of that shortly after it began a week ago; off-topic on Emptywheel I said,

Can someone compare the ethnicity makeup of ICE in general vs. ICE at airports? Has someone jumped on that yet? I’m not imagining it, am I? Can someone ask Homan for those stats? I think this is a PR stunt: “See, we’re not racist, despite our focusing on race when we go hunting for humans. And we’re not wearing masks! We look just like you!”

Just the ethnic makeup of the ICE guys at the airports looked fishy to me, right out the gate, in other words.

Then a few days ago, Feckless Fetterman says that ICE being at the airports

“has enhanced some kinds of performance over there.”

That’s Fetterman-speak for “ICE in the airports! Good idea!” And in that same Hill article, they quote Trump on the topic from a day earlier, and here’s what he said:

“...the ICE officers are “helping people with bags, even picking up and cleaning areas.” (and) “They are so proud to be there!” the president added. “The fact is, they shouldn’t have to do this, but they are rehabbing a fake image given to them by Radical Left Democrat politicians.”

Well there you have it then: ICE at the Airports is an image-rehabilitation project. Thank you Mr President. If this isn’t an explicit Project 2025 stunt, I’ll eat my front porch.

So Let’s call this “ice-washing,” shall we?

And now we also learn that it’s not just going to be a temporary thing:

This is also a campaign to get the American public used to and comfortable with cops in riot gear just hangin’ around.

I won’t get into theorizing that all this might be the forerunner to ICE at polling stations...because I don’t have to do that, Steve Bannon already did it.
