Collection of classic PC demos in the browser [1] ['Rob Beschizza'] Date: 2026-10-08 Demoscene Recomp features four classic PC demoscene productions on the web, using the original code recompiled "instruction for instruction" to run natively in the browser: "The C is compiled to WebAssembly, together with models of the hardware the demo talks to" including a VGA card and, of course, a Sound Blaster. An odd feeling: my mind and hand hunting for video controls that aren't there. The demos' own loaders, music players and effects all run as they did in 1992 to 1995; only the hardware is modelled. Up for your retrodelectation are Future Crew's Unreal (1992) and Second Reality (1993), Triton's Crystal Dream II (1993) and Stars: Wonders of the World by NoooN in 1995. You can blow them up to fullscreen and apply scanlines; some of them have other options. The source code is at GitHub. My time was a few years earlier, on the Commodore Amiga, but these a treat. If you like the voxel landscape tube screenshotted above, maybe you never saw Comanche—an unlikely prospect if you're reading this post, granted.
