Kickstarter collects Denis Kitchen's underground comics in three risograph books [1] ['Mark Frauenfelder'] Date: 2026-09-18 Here's a cool Kickstarter project featuring the comic book art of Denis Kitchen, an underground comics publishing legend, founder of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and agent for both Will Eisner and Harvey Kurtzman. Kitchen is best known as the publisher of Kitchen Sink Press, but he is also a great cartoonist. This Kickstarter, launched by cartoonist J.T. Yost, drew on a stash of old comics and drawings that Denis and his wife, Stacey, let him go through. The result is three risograph-printed comic collections that include Denis's comics and drawings from the 1960s to today. Risograph is a color copier from the 1980s made for school and small-business use. But artists have recently become enamored with it because the slightly offset ink and texture results look really cool. And now you can find a lot of zines and comics and prints that use risograph printing. Yost said these comic collections will hopefully bring Kitchen's work to a new audience and make his comics available to longtime fans.
