Six sparrows sit down for a tiny tea party, one place setting each [1] [] Date: 2026-09-08 The Japanese Instagram account Suzume Okyakusan posted a video on August 8, 2026, of six sparrows eating breakfast at a miniature picnic table set with small ceramic dishes of seeds and miniature cakes, along with a tiny teapot and cups. Each bird gets its own place setting. The sparrows can choose any free place setting and hop across the table between bites. The account's Japanese caption, すずめの朝のお茶, translates to "Sparrow's morning tea." The video received 84,000 likes and 380 comments, many from curious folk asking how to build the same setup for birds outside their windows. More about tiny animal picnic tables: Boing Boing has covered this trend before: Florida's Lucy Smalls built hanging picnic tables to feed neighborhood squirrels in 2020 and pointed fans to an Etsy shop selling finished versions, and Instagram user Angela has spent years setting a miniature table, complete with its own tiny flower vase, for a visiting chipmunk.
