Vlogger re-creates famous Disney illusion in his garage [1] ['Ruben Bolling'] Date: 2026-04-27 There are three Tower of Terrors (Towers of Terror?) in Disney theme parks around the world, and my favorite one may be the one is in Tokyo DisneySea. It's got a wonderfully atmospheric pre-show with its own unique backstory (spoiler alert): As part of a tour of a defunct hotel, you enter the office of its late owner, Harrison Hightower III, an explorer who stole artifacts on his adventures, including a cursed African idol named Shiriki Utundu, on display in the office. You learn that on New Year's Eve 1899, after Hightower mocked the idol by putting out his cigar on its head, the idol came to life and killed him by having the hotel's elevator in which he was riding crash to the ground. After the story is recounted, the idol in the office laughs and suddenly disappears from its pedestal. I was honestly befuddled by how this disappearance could have worked. You then board the haunted elevator and are thrust up and down by the vengeful idol but (spoiler alert) survive. Here is a full ride-through video. Disney vlogger Zach Wally just released a video in which he explains how the disappearing Shiriki Utundu trick works, and then actually re-creates the entire illusion, just as it appears in DisneySea, in his garage.
