Driving Through a Locust Swarm Looks Like a Living Sandstorm [1] [] Date: 2026-02-27 Driving through a locust swarm is like passing through a living sandstorm. This video from the Sahara Desert shows just how chaotic it gets — an absurd number of locusts cover everything in sight as cars try to navigate the road. Hopefully, these people had their car windows closed. During a locust swarm, visibility drops fast. The bugs smear greenish-brown streaks across the windshield faster than wipers can clear them, and you burn through washer fluid trying to keep up. Good luck judging how far away anything is when millions of insects are pulsing around your car. If driving through a cloud of locusts isn't bad enough, turn up the volume. You can hear them smacking the car every second. Not a situation I ever hope to find myself in.
