Man arrested after breaking windows at Vance's Cincinnati home [1] ['Ellsworth Toohey'] Date: 2026-01-05 A 26-year-old man was arrested early Monday after breaking windows at Vice President JD Vance's Cincinnati residence. William DeFoor was detained by Secret Service personnel after also striking a Secret Service vehicle and vandalizing other property at the home. The Vance family had left Cincinnati for Washington, D.C., just hours before the incident occurred. DeFoor was taken into custody after midnight and now faces local charges, including vandalism, obstruction of official business, and criminal trespassing. His arraignment in Hamilton County court is scheduled for Tuesday. According to officials, DeFoor has "a documented history of mental health concerns." The Secret Service had not previously identified him as a potential risk. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that "an adult male was taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department after being detained by U.S. Secret Service personnel for causing property damage." Vance acknowledged the incident on Xitter, writing: "I'm grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly."
