This $100 Star Wars ornament is impressive and absurd [1] ['Gail Sherman'] Date: 2025-12-18 This $100 Hallmark "Christmas tree ornament" is absolutely ridiculous. I hate it and want it at the same time. The "Star Wars: A New Hope™ "Let the Wookiee™ Win" Ornament With Video, Light and Sound" meticulously detailed diorama depicts a classic scene from Episode IV in which R2-D2 and Chewbacca face off in a game of dejarik, or holographic chess. The audio is clipped directly from the film, with Harrison Ford's signature snark cautioning that "It's not wise to upset a Wookiee." Several of the dejarik pieces are made of translucent plastic, but the killer feature is the two pieces that battle appear in a hologram, just as in the film. It's a really cool collectible, but what tree could possibly support this thing? The already overpriced "ornament" is powered by Hallmark's proprietary "Keepsake Power Cord," which is sold separately for $18.99, and cannot run on batteries. Side note: the "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ Into the Carbon-Freezing™ Chamber Ornament With Light, Sound and Motion" from 2023 has increased in price from $65 to $80.99. Multiple ornaments can be connected to a single power cord, so buy both, I guess?
