Raccoon falls though ceiling into restaurant [1] ['Rob Beschizza'] Date: 2025-12-17 Diners in the fancy Ristorante Brissago at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, were joined Sunday by an unexpected guest: a raccoon that came crashing in through the ceiling. The animal bit a guest who tried to grab it, report local news outlets, after the 7:30p.m. gatecrashing, and Matt Snorek, with Guaranteed Gone Wildlife Control, was summoned to "manage the situation." "We don't know how this raccoon got there," Snorek told Fox 6 News. "Phone rang, it was a resort in Lake Geneva. They said, 'Hey do you do wild life control?' I said yes. It was quite a large raccoon. So he was on it for the 25 minutes I was on the way there as this thing was brawling, scratching, hissing." Bodycam footage shows the animal's capture. Cold weather encourages animals to enter structures, and the temperatures in Wisconsin are brutal. The fate of the diner and the animal offer reminders why it's a bad idea to try and pick up wildlife: the diner was hospitalized and the raccoon destroyed for rabies testing. In a statement to FOX6, Marcus Hotels & Resorts said: "A raccoon entered the building last night. Animal Control was contacted, and the animal was removed. As always, the safety and well-being of our guests is our priority." Raccoon raids are in the news lately, especially those launched by the trashed panda of Ashland.
