Pocky recall: 6 million units pulled for spice contamination [1] ['Ellsworth Toohey'] Date: 2025-12-10 Ezaki Glico is recalling about six million units of Pocky and other chocolate products in Japan. The reason: the cacao beans were stored in a warehouse undergoing renovation, and they picked up the smell of spices that were temporarily kept there. SoraNews24 reports the affected products have best-by dates starting in May 2026 and include Pocky Chocolate, Kobe Roasted Chocolat Hojun Cacao, and Libera Bitter. The company says eating them poses no health risks — this is about customer satisfaction, not safety. Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration has instructed importers to comply with the recall for Pocky Winter Exclusive Chocolate Sticks and Glico 8-Pack Chocolate Flavor Sticks sold there. The recall is officially domestic, but specialty stores importing Japanese market Pocky might have some affected boxes on shelves overseas. Glico has apologized and promised to strengthen supply chain quality control. The lesson: don't store your chocolate beans next to your cumin.
