This role reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The Conversation’s unique publishing model pairs professional editors with academics to better inform public discourse. Senior editors for The Conversation are experienced journalists who are responsible for working with academics to find out about the latest research and help translate their ideas into plain language to share with a wide audience. The primary responsibility of the Energy and Environment Editor is to lead our coverage of climate, the environment and the energy sector by commissioning, editing and publishing text-based articles, as well as related content drawing on digital storytelling approaches using graphs, multimedia and data visualisation. The Energy and Environment Editor needs to be a voracious reader who is well informed about developments and trends in the field. The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team. It is also essential to be a creative and competitive journalist bursting with ideas and the ability to implement them.
