The role takes responsibility for governance, risk and assurance at the highest level, and manages the secretariat and corporate services available to the Chancellor and other members of the University Council. THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY (ANU) GOVERNANCE AND RISK OFFICE The ANU Governance and Risk Office, led by the University Secretary and Director, Governance and Risk facilitates the effective governance of the University through the management of the University’s suite of legislation. THE UNIVERSITY SECRETARY AND DIRECTOR, GOVERNANCE AND RISK Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the University Secretary and Director, Governance and Risk provides advice and analysis on all matters within the purview of governance and risk to the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Senior Management Group, Chairs of Council Committees and Academic Board, Service Division Directors and the broader University to ensure the essential governance of the University is effective. The University Secretary also leads the University's risk management and internal audit functions. The University Secretary is a highly resilient, organised, and effective senior leader, driving the performance of the ANU Governance and Risk Office (GRO), including management of its work, and its financial, administrative and staffing resources. Sound judgement and the capacity to influence effectively should be complemented with extensive experience in effective governance, a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, proven analytical skills as an adviser to senior leaders, and a demonstrated ability to act with integrity and discretion. Extensive experience in governance in a comparable environment, including supporting the work of boards, committees or legislatures, will be essential. Formal qualifications in business and/or corporate governance will be highly regarded, as will experience in risk management. Further information can be found here .
