About the Role The Operations Manager is a key professional within the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, responsible for developing and implementing systems and policies, managing resources, and ensuring the school's efficient operation. They will work closely with school leadership and partners to achieve growth goals in teaching, research and engagement. Key to success will be the ability to work with school academic leadership and other stakeholders to problem solve to enhance school performance. The successful candidate will lead a team providing administrative support and must balance daily tasks with long-term projects. The role reports to the Head of Strategy, Planning, and Resources (HoSPR) whilst being accountable to the Head of School (HoS) and is part of a broader network of managers within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. Your responsibilities will include: Develop and implement the school’s operational plans in consultation with the HoS, the School Executive and HoSPR. Play an active role in developing school strategies, business plans and budgets, including collecting and analysing information to develop key action plans across the school in the areas of research, teaching and learning, research training and engagement In collaboration with the Operations Managers of other FEIT schools and the HoSPR lead and contribute to projects to streamline and standardised business planning, operating and financial management practices across the schools and faculty. Who We Are Looking For To be successful in this role, you must be an experienced leader with a strong educational background and a track record in educational management. You should possess exceptional project management and budget oversight skills, to efficiently manage both daily operations and long-term projects. You should also be a strategic thinker who can align school operations with growth strategies and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, backed by sound judgment. Additionally, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial soft skills to thrive in a dynamic academic environment. You will also have: Postgraduate tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of significant relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated experience leading operations of large complex organization. Proven ability to develop strong trusted relationships with stakeholders, specifically strong influencing ability. Experience in the effective management of financial and budgetary operations within a complex organisation.
