About the role: A newly created Senior Research Officer position has become available to join the Neuropathology and Neurodegeneration laboratory. Understanding the molecular basis of Alzheimer’s disease is the main focus of this laboratory, including novel biomarkers, and therapeutic targets. One of the main goals of this group is to achieve early detection and accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. This new role is funded by a NHMRC-AMED collaborative dementia research grant, and the candidate will work collaboratively with a Japanese research team. Short-term international travel to Japan may be required. The candidate will be responsible for: Conducting research activities under limited supervision Analysing data and present analyses in various formats Performing animal experiments including animal behaviour tests and animal surgeries Producing or contributing to the production of published works including journal articles and conference and seminar papers Preparing or contributing to the preparation of research and grant proposals Supervising honours and HDR students Detailed information and key responsibilities are available from the Position Description, which is available by clicking on 'Apply Now'. The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Senior Research Officer 1 (SRO1) $99,609 to Senior Research Officer 2 (SRO2) $103,348, commensurate with experience.
