[1] [] Date: 2023-02 Start: 03/03/2023, 17:00 End: 03/03/2023, 19:00 Remembering Willie Adams: Remembering SACOS Symposium The Stellenbosch University Museum in partnership with the Division of Sport Science, Stellenbosch University, invites you to a “Remembering Willie Adams: Remembering SACOS" Symposium, where we reflect on the history of SACOS through the archives of Willie Adams. Willie Adams Biography Political activist, educator, archaeologist, poet and sport administrator, Willie Adams, was an important figure in the South African Council on Sport (SACOS). As a sport activist and administrator, Adams served local communities in his childhood hometown, Bishop Lavis and later, the broader Western Cape and South Africa. Throughout his career, Adams remained committed, selflessly, to liberation of the underclass at great cost to himself. His personal archive, housed in the Stellenbosch University Special Collections, reveals much about the SACOS struggle for liberation at community, national and international level. This is an archive that highlights an unfinished struggle for justice. MC: Dr Francois Cleophas.
