About Mindful, Department of Psychiatry, Melbourne Medical School Mindful – centre for training and research in developmental health is funded by the Victorian Department of Health and auspiced by the University of Melbourne in the Department of Psychiatry. The Centre provides a wide range of professional development training for the broader child, adolescent and youth mental health sector. The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne was established in the 1960s. It is one of the largest Departments in the Melbourne Medical School. There are about 120 academic and professional staff, 140 honorary staff and 50 students pursuing research degrees from Honours, Masters, and PhD programs. The Department’s research focuses on improving our understanding and treatment of mental health disorders. About the Role The Centre Support Officer is a professional role within Mindful reporting to the Business Manager. The position plays a pivotal role in the support of a wide range of day-to-day activities in the delivery of the Centre programs including overseeing course enquiries and related activities, contract management and payments of sessional staff, building maintenance and website maintenance. Responsibilities include: Management of grounds and buildings owned by the Victorian Department of Health, while ensuring compliance and adherence with University OHSE policy Prepare purchase orders, internal orders and oversee payments to sessional and casual staff members Oversee the collection of payments for vocational courses, short courses, workshops Administrative support for projects and other duties as requested by the Centre Director and Business Manager as required About You You will bring your strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills including the ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and training presenters and participants, to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and brochures. Your highly developed organisational skills give you the ability to prioritise workloads and ensure timely delivery of activities will be highly regarded. You will also have: Completion of a degree level qualification with subsequent relevant work-related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret University policies, statutes, regulations and procedures in relation to postgraduate programs. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail essential. Good experience in a range of computing skills including Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, and web publishing tools.
