The Cybersecurity team works to reduce the University’s vulnerability to cyberthreats while balancing the need for openness, autonomy and collaboration using a risk-based approach to manage exposures. About the Role As a Cybersecurity analyst, you will have the opportunity to be a key contributor to the protection of the University’s digital assets and you’ll help safeguard the online experience for our community members. Reporting to Cybersecurity Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for making risk-based decisions and will play a critical role in detecting, responding to, and mitigating cybersecurity threats. This role will also give you the opportunity to work on exciting projects and initiatives to improve our capabilities, and to develop knowledge and documentation to help others stay informed and secure. This is a challenging but rewarding role that will keep you engaged and continuously learning as the cybersecurity landscape evolves and your career develops. In a typical week at work, you may also be involved in: Operating cybersecurity systems to detect, analyse and respond to cybersecurity threats impacting University systems, users or data assets. Rapidly responding to user reports of anomalous activity and investigating the root cause and impact, undertaking the initial triage and end to end resolution of incidents and escalating to senior team members quickly when needed. Collecting evidence and analysing the techniques, tactics and procedures used by the University’s cyber-adversaries. Monitoring the current security state and system health of a range of cybersecurity platforms and responding to rectify any issues. About You As a Cybersecurity Operations Analyst, attention to detail, effective communication and a methodical approach to the investigation of cybersecurity incidents are crucial to your success. You will be expected to have a demonstrable track record of excellent stakeholder engagement, teamwork and written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, you will be willing and able to participate in a 24/7 on-call duty roster, which highlights the importance of flexibility and adaptability in the role. You will also have: Qualifications in information technology, cybersecurity or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training Strong foundational knowledge of technology, cybersecurity, and risk management concepts Experience working within a Cybersecurity Operations Centre or significant drive to quickly learn and adopt cybersecurity operations processes 6-12 months experience in cybersecurity is a plus but not a requirement.
