Akanji FAS (Academic Physician/Scientist, Endocrinologist and Chemical Pathologist @Frank Netter MD, Medical School of Quinnipiac University, Hamden, CT, USA) Prof. Akanji qualified as a physician from Ibadan Medical School. He obtained the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University, UK. He had his residency and specialist training at the UCH, Ibadan and the University of Oxford Hospitals. He also had postdoctoral training in Metabolic Medicine & Endocrinology at Oxford, Dusseldorf, Germany, and Boston, USA. Prof. Akanji holds fellowships of the Nigerian and West African Postgraduate Medical Colleges (Internal Medicine & Endocrinology), Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, Royal College of Pathologists of London (Chemical Pathology) and the American National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science and a Foundation Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine. His current research interests are in molecular endocrinology (nutrition and chronic disease) and medical education (development and evaluation of novel medical curricula and assessment of experiential training of medical students) Dr. Sonny Folorunso Kuku OFR, FAS, FAMedS (Experimental and Clinical Endocrinologist @EKO Hospital) Dr. Sonny Kuku is a renowned Experimental and Clinical Endocrinologist who has done pioneering and seminal work on endocrine infertility in Africans and the diabetogenic effects of the various molecular forms of glucagon. He is current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Medical Specialties of Nigeria, the West African College of Physicians (WACP), and Chairman of the Medical Sciences Sectional Committee of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He was a past President of the WACP and is a Master of the American College of Physicians. He is a Honorary Life President of the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria, a Honorary Life Patron of the Diabetes Society of Nigeria, and a Past President of the Pan African Diabetes Study Group. Dr. Gabriel Uwaifo (Physician-Scientist and Endocrinologist @Ochsner Health Center) Dr. Gabriel Uwaifo is an endocrinologist with three decades of clinical experience. He completed his undergraduate training, and general medicine residency at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, before completing an internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center. After serving as a chief resident, Dr. Uwaifo completed a clinical and research endocrinology and diabetes fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He has had stints as clinical and research endocrinologist at the Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University System, LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. He sees patients in the domains of endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism, and medical weight management at the Ochsner Health Center in Slidell. He is certified in Internal medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as well as in Obesity medicine, medical bariatrics, and clinical hypertension care.
