About The Position A Principal Research Fellow (PRF) is an internationally recognised research expert who makes significant and original contributions to educational theory, policy or practice, in one or more areas of educational expertise (examples could include Early-Years Education, First Nations Education, Curriculum Design, Inclusive Education, Technology in Education). This position is based in Adelaide. As an outstanding researcher, you will be responsible for building or extending a research team in your own area of expertise. This will include generating the funding required to carry out research, both through developing tenders in response to formal opportunities as well as through building relationships with research funding bodies. You will need to be proactive in liaising with external stakeholders, particularly in South Australia. To succeed in this role, your research excellence needs to be combined with sophisticated project coordination skills. These should include allocating staff to project tasks and the ability to comply with ACER’s protocols for the management of fiscal, ethical, risk and data privacy components of research activities Our ideal candidate will hold Doctorate or equivalent postgraduate qualification (or accomplishments/experience) in relevant discipline. Position Accountabilities Provide intellectual leadership and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders in one or more areas of educational expertise Make significant and original contributions to educational theory, policy or practice Contribute to ACER’s strategic planning and research agendas, including continuous improvement activities to enhance the delivery of research outcomes Develop, lead and manage a research area and/or team within one of ACER’s research programs Identify, initiate and attract external research funding for new business Lead and manage large, complex and high-quality research projects which deliver to agreed objectives, standards, timelines and budgets Lead, manage and coach for optimal individual and team performance Develop and build professional collegiality and networks through participation in events, forums, workshops and conferences at ACER and in the broader research community Promote ACER’s research profile by effectively engaging, collaborating and partnering with external stakeholders across academic, government and industry bodies Regularly disseminate and communicate research project outcomes by presenting and publishing work undertaken at/for ACER Contribute to ACER’s higher education courses through writing content, teaching and online moderation where agreed and as appropriate/relevant Decision Making Authority The PRF works with a high degree of independence and makes operational decisions with respect to the research area and projects for which they are responsible. Decisions involving the commitment of significant resources or funding and/or related to employee matters or client relationships, are made with reference to the relevant Research Director, Head of Division and/or CFO. The PRF is required to lead, manage and develop individuals and/or teams.
