We are seeking a talented and experienced Scientific Writing Training Manager to join our CSIRO Publishing team to deliver specifically-designed writing workshops for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders & partners. In this key role within the team, you will be responsible for managing CSIRO’s Scientific Writing Workshops line of business by designing and delivering training in scientific writing tailored to our customers’ needs, continuously evaluating & improving the programs and developing new courses. You will understand the needs of researchers, professional scientists and engineers, and use your language & writing expertise to train them to communicate their research clearly and effectively. You will also use your stakeholder management skills and commercial acumen to maintain strong client relationships, proactively seek new opportunities, promote the programs, and drive new business. As the Scientific Writing Training Manager, you will also need strong organisational skills, technical competence with online training platforms, and the ability & willingness to travel regularly within Australia and overseas to deliver training programs. Your duties will include: Planning, managing and delivering the ‘Scientific Writing Workshops’ line of business in CSIRO Publishing to meet CSIRO’s strategy and budgets. Designing, facilitating and program-managing scientific writing workshops that consistently deliver to the requirements of CSIRO’s learning curriculum and to the needs of our external clients and stakeholders. Liaising with internal and external clients to determine their needs, tailoring solutions to potentially conflicting requirements, quoting to balance market expectations with CSIRO requirements, and taking personal responsibility for client satisfaction. Delivering training in a supportive, safe and inclusive adult learning environment in both online and face-to-face formats. Managing deployment and training of the team of part-time moderators for online workshops. Developing, preparing and maintaining records, IP, and resources for the Scientific Writing Workshops program, including detailed facilitator guides and learning resources for existing and new courses. Designing and undertaking post-course evaluation processes, and implementing strategies for continuous improvement. Working collaboratively and proactively to coordinate new marketing/promotional activities that engage new clients and generate new business. Demonstrated high-level writing skills, with a proven track record of published peer-reviewed journal articles and successful funding applications. Experience in teaching writing to adults and proven group training & facilitation skills. Experience in the design and development of learning programs, including digital/eLearning design. Strong understanding of English language and grammar. Outstanding communication skills and ability to listen & communicate effectively in visual, oral and written form to meet learning principles for adult learners.
