An exciting opportunity exists for a Program and Pathways Officer to play a key role in the University's Goulburn Valley’s Indigenous engagement, being an ambassador for programs within the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences (FVAS) and Munarra Academy / Academy of Sports, Health and Education (ASHE). About the Role The Program and Pathways Officer will play a key role in the University of Melbourne Goulburn Valley’s Indigenous engagement, being an ambassador for programs within the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences (FVAS) and Munarra Academy / Academy of Sports, Health and Education (ASHE). ASHE is an initiative to improve the education, health and employment outcomes for Indigenous people. This includes ensuring ASHE provides a culturally rich and nurturing environment, where students can be supported and challenged to take important next steps in their lives. The incumbent will use their local cultural authority in supporting the overall engagement of students and their families with the Academy, with a focus on building stronger connection to the University’s Dookie campus. In a typical week at work, you may: Help maintain strong communication lines between ASHE and the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences Assist in the development and delivery of an engaging suite of culturally relevant programs and activities Participate in extracurricular activities, including a variety of field trips and overnight excursions About You You will be familiar with The Academy of Sport, Health, and Education, as well as knowledge of the Rumbalara Football Netball Club. You will have knowledge and strong understanding of Aboriginal history, traditions, organisations, networks, protocols, and significant people and events. You are able build confidence and motivate people, and act as a strong role model for Indigenous young people. In addition, you will have demonstrated strengths in problem solving and critical thinking, coupled with sound judgement and an ability to interpret policy. Ideally, you will further have: Completion of a relevant degree or a Certificate IV qualification with extensive work experience and/or education/training in a similar role. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with a range of people across all levels. Demonstrated ability to work with initiative and independence, as well as to actively seek out opportunities to collaborate and assist with achieving team goals.
