As we are an online editing business, editors can be located anywhere in Australia or overseas. Selection Criteria In order to apply, you should meet the following minimum criteria: Be a native English speaker. Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in a language-rich subject. Have a successful track record and proven experience working as an editor, or the ability to learn quickly. Possess advanced word processing skills, including (but not limited to) the advanced use of Tracked Changes and formatting/layout functions on Microsoft Word (including the ability to set heading styles and create tables), as all editing is completed electronically. Be reliable, trustworthy and hardworking. Have an eye for detail and be able to remove 99 to 100% of all errors from any document. Have experience editing documents written by people with English as a second language. Be familiar with the Australian university system. Be willing to learn and improve. Be looking for a long-term position and, if successful, be able to commit to working with Elite Editing (although not necessarily full-time) for a minimum of two years (due to the lengthy training process). Be available to work for Elite Editing for a minimum of 15 hours per week. Remuneration Rates of pay are competitive. Editors are paid according to the word count and required turnaround time of each document Thus, the way the rate of pay translates to an hourly rate depends on the skills, experience and editing speed of each individual editor. Information about specific rates of pay will only be provided to suitable applicants and only after we receive an application or an expression of interest including a CV, and have passed the first level of testing. Editors can specify the number of hours they are available for work but we prefer to work with editors who are available for a minimum of 15 hours per week to be considered for a position. Australian residents are hired by Elite Editing as casual employees (including payment of superannuation), with non-residents hired on a contract basis.
