The Conversation’s unique publishing model pairs professional editors with academics to better inform public discourse. Section Editors work with academics and researchers to find out about the latest research and help translate their ideas into plain language articles aimed at a wide audience. We are seeking a Section Editor who will help us set up a new team that will focus on coverage of major academic and literary publications that take on big ideas. The role would require an editor with experience and intellectual sophistication to identify the major works and find the right academic authors to engage on these topics. This new section will publish longer pieces directed at readers with an appetite to go deeper as well as shorter literary reviews. The Section Editor will also develop a range of innovative and engaging editorial products designed to appeal to readers interested in ideas. The Section Editor, Books & Ideas, will need to be a voracious reader who is well informed and passionate about developing new ideas. The Conversation is a trusted journalism brand and the Section Editor will need to protect its hard won credibility.
