Our stories are written for a general readership, and we aim to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the public via a newsroom of editors. We are looking for a Commissioning Editor to join our Science desk. You will come with ideas and a strong interest in science journalism and you will be working alongside other science and health editors. You will be keen to promote your daily published stories to a wider audience. You will be an excellent editor, able to promptly translate complicated ideas into accessible language for a general audience. On a day-to-day basis, the role will involve devising and developing ideas, responding to pitches, and working with academic experts on their stories. About You Able to digest complex ideas and translate these for a general audience Demonstrable editing skills from working with academic material or in journalism Excellent grasp of the English language Highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks/stories Good diplomatic skills Our HQ is based in London but you don’t have to be – the role will include remote working.
