About the role:

We have a great opportunity available within our dynamic and supportive Ion Channels and Human Disease Lab. The Research Assistant will be working within and across disciplines to support the team on brain research into the brain function of rodent models.

This role will see you take responsibility for a variety of tasks including:

Stereotaxic surgery for placement of electrodes and cannula

Drug delivery to mice via oral, s.c, i.p or i.c.v. routes

Running of video-EEG experiments

Behavioral experiments

This role is full-time, fixed-term until May 2022.

About you:

You are an analytical thinker who is passionate about neuroscience, You are able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will have a Bachelor's (Hons) degree, Masters or Ph.D. in physiology, neuroscience, or related area.

Experience in the following is desirable:

Experience in handling and drug administration in small animals

Experience in stereotaxic recovery surgery in mice or rats

Proficient at running behavioral experiments

Knowledge of OGTR, Ethics and OHS policies

Knowledge of relevant aspects of neuroscience
