CHENEY BLASTS CRUZ AS A “CHAMELEON” WHO WILL “SAY ANYTHING”



Outgoing Wyoming U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney escalated her feud with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz this week, blasting the Texan as a “chameleon” who “lacks principle” escalated her feud with U.S. Sen.this week, blasting the Texan as a “chameleon” who “lacks principle” in a tweet Tuesday

Her retort came after Cruz said on his podcast that the Wyoming Republican had “become a liberal Democrat” because she sat on the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol insurrection by supporters of former President Donald Trump.

“Liz is unrecognizable,” Cruz said. “Cheney’s circus act on the Jan. 6 commission is indistinguishable from what Nancy Pelosi would say.”

Although many Republicans viewed Cheney’s participation in the committee as a betrayal, her voting record almost universally reflected the party’s positions.

Cheney, one of the most prominent Republicans to criticize Trump over his false claims that he won the 2020 election, has fallen out of favor in the Republican Party, which her father helped lead for decades. Cheney was walloped by her Trump-backed primary opponent on Aug. 16. She has since hinted she may run for president in an effort to keep Trump from returning to the White House.

Cruz, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2016, may be mulling another run himself.
