Southeast Idaho’s Montpelier to serve as ‘Capital for a Day’ on Oct. 25 [1] ['Clark Corbin', 'More From Author', '- October'] Date: 2023-10 The southeast Idaho town of Montpelier – known as a stop on the Oregon Trail – will serve as the host of Idaho’s next Capital for a Day event on Wednesday, Gov. Brad Little announced. Often held monthly, Capital for a Day events feature Little and many of the state’s agency directors traveling to smaller communities throughout Idaho. During the events, the governor and agency heads discuss state issues and programs and conduct an open forum for local residents to ask questions or make suggestions. Little’s predecessor, former Gov. Butch Otter, also conducted regular Capital for a Day events around the state during his three terms in office. Montpelier’s Capital for a Day event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Oregon/California Trail Center, 320 N. Fourth St. “It is an honor to bring my next Capital for a Day to Montpelier,” Little said in a written statement. “This event will give the good people of Bear Lake County a chance to discuss what’s on their minds when it comes to good government and how we can better serve them.” The event is free and open to the public.
