[1] ['Meteor Blades', 'Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood', 'Dan K', 'Bill In Portland Maine'] Date: 2026-07-07 Subtitle: Don’t boo. VOTE! Democrats are in a pickle right now. Graham Platner, the charismatic but flawed candidate that has divided the party faithful for months, is now being pushed by his supporters (prominent and otherwise) to drop out, like, right NOW. A lot of people have been way past done with this guy, who kept saying, basically “This is the last shoe to drop, I promise” after it kept raining shoes. I get their anger. Politics involves passion, and passion includes anger. But anger is generally best channelled into proactive work. This was, and is, the genius of Obama. During his 2008 campaign, he rarely responded to brutal and often ridiculous attacks with anger, even when it was justified. Instead, he tried to figure out how to respond in a way that was most effective to his campaign. So I am asking you, fellow Democrats, some of whom (like me) have supported and maybe even truly believed in candidates that now make you cringe (Kyrsten Sinema comes to mind) to make suggestions on how we can turn this “No he didn’t” moment into a “Yes, We Can!” moment. Some of you are actually in Maine, or have connections to the Democratic party in DC, Maine, or elsewhere. What do you think we should do? And how can we support those who are moving forward with passion and a sense of urgency in this moment to fight for the Senate majority? Most of us don’t get a vote here, so “Don’t boo, vote” isn’t advice that applies. The actual decision of who will be the nominee is in the hands of a few Maine Democrats, who are probably beside themselves as they work the phones and the internet non-stop. But surely we can do something, right? I am open to ideas. So, suggest away. Name possible candidates, ways to get to a majority without Maine, basically anything. Just never forget, Yes, we did. And YES, WE CAN!
