It has been a busy couple weeks. That and the fact that many days were gray with drizzle are my excuse for not having many pics this week.

A couple weeks ago I stumbled upon something I found interesting. The deeper I dug the more interesting it got. Since it mostly concerned a race in northern California somebody here recommended I reach out to Phil Barber at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. It was the newspaper local to the story and Barber had been covering the race well.

Barber was not unaware of the story and since the scheme had been successful at knocking out the targeted candidate he was preparing to cover the story. I was able to provide some details relative to the district down here.

The article does a good job explaining the scheme. You can read it HERE. The only thing I feel should have been included is the timing. Dixit started funding these candidates 8 months before the targeted candidate entered the race. And the candidates all received the money the day of or within a few days of filing to run. Hard to believe it was done without coordination with the Jones campaign. I might have also included that the Jones Campaign Manager was previously the Campaign Manager for Khanna who had a history of a similar scheme.

I do wonder why this story was not published before the election. Over 21,000 voters threw away their votes on the spoiler candidates. I’m always in favor of the press informing voters so they can vote wisely. Seems sorta important for a Democracy.
