DK6 Early Week 4: Having Logout Problems? [1]

['Allison Mchenry', 'View Profile']

Date: 2026-05-04

The Current Work List

Update styling for pull quote blocks (get rid of gray background, make it nicer in general)

Update comment thread styling

Change “Request Membership” button to “Follow” button on Group list page

Changing the error message users see when they can’t vote on a poll

Update the error message users see when comments don’t load to account for other factors besides ad blockers

The Fix List

As a reminder, this is what we fixed last week

Migrating groups that were missed (5/4/2026)

Redirect m.dailykos.com -> www.dailykos.com (5/4/2026)

Embedding a YouTube Short video causes a gigantic amount of white space to be added around it (5/4/2026)

Stories by contributors should show up in the Staff stories archive (5/4/2026)

Logout Problems

The length of time we have set before you should need to log in to Daily Kos again is 14 days (we do need to force people to re-login periodically for security; I know the old site didn’t work like that). If you are being asked to log in to Daily Kos more frequently than every 14 days, could you help us track down what is happening?

Do you get logged out when:

You are trying to interact with the comments (like a comment, write a comment)?

Navigate between the home page and a story page, or two story pages?

Something else?

If you are seeing this behavior, can you let me know which browser you are using, and whether you are on a phone/desktop/tablet? And if you’re willing to do more of a deep dive troubleshoot over email can you let me know that as well? Thanks in advance for your help!
