A distinguished group of neuroscientists have discovered a simple procedure where they can disable parts of the brain and have been testing it on some subjects.

They proceeded to apply the procedure to a subject’s right brain (effectively numbing it to all input) and asked “List all the integers from 1 up to 10” and the man responded “2,4,6,8”. The researchers found this very interesting and thought that there might be some left/right connection to counting. They reversed the connection and numbed the left side. Answering the same question, the man responded “1,3,5,7,9”.

“Well, we need a baseline before continuing,” the lead researcher said. “Let’s numb both sides of the brain and see if we get a response.”

They again asked the subject “List all the integers from 1 up to 10.”

He spoke.

“You’re asking about numbers, right? I know all the best numbers. My uncle Ted at MIT was teaching numbers to Kasinski and he said ‘Ted, me boy. I want you to teach my nephew all about numbers.’ So he did and I have all the best numbers. Some people say I have the best numbers they have never seen. Did you know that elephants don’t have wheels, right? So how do they ride around on those tiny bicycles? And I discovered that whirlpools cause cancer which is really hurting my golf properties and killing those magnificent shore eagles that roam the area. Throws ‘em right in the boiling hot ocean swirls. So, in conclusion, I have the best numbers and people are marveling at my 200,000 tons of bombs we are dropping everywhere, looks really good on my TV and my ratings are thru the roof.”
