A Course in Miracles, Discussion [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2025-08-26 This next week I will be considering the ideas presented in Lessons 239 to 245. =================== The second half of the lessons (there are 365 lessons, total) take an idea and spend several days studying that idea. For instance, now is What is Salvation? Followed by Lessons 231 to 240. It is a review in that it covers ideas that have been presented and studied so far by the Workbook and the Text. ACIM is known for its long, long sentences. When you are first ploughing through the new ideas presented you almost have to take it clause by clause. I think that is why discussion groups sprang up. Reading each sentence slowly to a group is quite pleasing. (What Is Salvation) So the thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. That is the boat we are in. We are one, we fail to recognize this and think it is possible to be apart, separate. The separation. Fragments of the One Son, the Sonship. That is why forgiveness makes sense, that is the basis for the Golden Rule. Treat your brother as yourself, because in reality he is. Invite everyone into the Circle of Salvation, or join him outside where you would have him be. Rough stuff if you are constructing special places in hell. We feel we have a body, we don’t and we aren’t a body. Our ego would have this body be the prison our spirit is chained to only released upon death of the body. We aren’t and death as an end is not of our choosing. (this is really one paragraph in the Text, but I presented it in chunks for easier understanding) Swear not to die, you holy Son of God! You make a bargain that you cannot keep. The Son of Life cannot be killed. He is immortal as his Father. What he is cannot be changed. He is the only thing in all the universe that must be one. What seems eternal all will have an end. The stars will disappear, and night and day will be no more. All things that come and go, the tides, the seasons and the lives of men; all things that change with time and bloom and fade will not return. Where time has set an end is not where the eternal is. God’s Son can never change by what men made of him. He will be as he was and as he is, for time appointed not his destiny, nor set the hour of his birth and death. Forgiveness will not change him. Yet time waits upon forgiveness that the things of time may disappear because they have no use. I am not writing Cliff Notes for ACIM. Neither my diaries nor my comments offer a shortcut. ACIM is the only thing I would accept, that is me. I cannot sit quietly in the pew and wait for someone to explain the history as it was explained to them. I need something written in my understanding for me. Doesn’t mean there aren’t many, many other paths. Doesn’t mean someone sharing in a discussion isn’t helpful. Discussion is possible.
