Kitchen Table Kibitzing August 3, 2025 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2025-08-03 Recipe I mentioned on last evening’s KTK that I was going to cook salmon, and I searched the internet for a good and interesting salmon sauce recipe. BadWolffe replied “I was looking at the cooking reddit this week. They're going back to cookbooks. Like physical cookbooks. Seems the internet recipes are not always what they’re cracked up to be.” “The internet recipes are, more and more, AI generated, and often crap. Even the cheap cookbooks on Amazon are AI. And these AI recipes are crap because no one is testing them. The reddit cooks do say that some websites have people who are actually testing their recipes and you can trust them.” Venturing out, I went to this “reddit” site, and saw: “If my phone crashes one more time due to 1,000 ads on a cooking blog I might black out. Most importantly though, I like how cookbooks are mostly straight to the point. Most of them are tested quite a lot, ensuring my chances of success. Don’t get me wrong, I still look for recipes online. But oh my is it so much easier on my mind using traditional cookbooks.” With all that in mind, the recipe looked good, so I went ahead. Broiled a big piece of salmon for 8 minutes and served it to guests with the sauce. Everyone just loved it. one cup sour cream (or Greek Yogurt) 3 tsp Dijon mustard 1 garlic clove, minced 1 lemon, zested ½ lemon, juiced 1 tsp salt 1 tsp sugar and most important... ½ bunch or more fresh dill, chopped mix and stir I watch cooking videos as presented here on KTK and New Day, but I seldom follow a whole recipe. They are a source of ideas. I love cooking using cookbooks, old and new.
