Don't Get Distracted [1]

Crass, vulgar, gauche…. these are a few words that describe Trump personally. He is the epitome of the “ugly American,” in every way, and the White House ballroom is just the latest iteration of his narcissistic personality disorder.



And as much as we may hate the thought of Donald Trump leaving a big, tacky, golden “Trump “T” on the White House as a testament to forever remind us of his disastrous tenure there, let’s not lose sight of what is really happening.



Even the mainstream media is catching on to Trump’s technique for controlling the narrative. Whenever he gets bad press, he says something outrageous; we’re going to invade Greenland, we’re going to take back the Panama Canal Zone, We’re going to annex Canada, we’re going to put cane sugar in Coca-cola…. and the press gets distracted like a dog on a walk seeing a squirrel.



Could the announcement of the ballroom be the latest shiny object Trump is tossing to change the narrative from Jeffery Epstein and yesterday’s jobs report?



Don’t let him get away with it.



That being said, I also think undoing Trump’s nouveau riche White House makeover, while not as important in the entire scheme of things as stopping the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 makeover of the country, should be undone. The White House is not a palace. It is a reflection of who we aspire to be and our ideal of a president, and I want to see its dignity restored.



So I have some suggestions for the next Democratic occupant of the White House.



First, deep clean and fumigate the place to remove all stench of Trump before moving in. Then remove all traces of Trump’s occupancy. If we can’t put him in prison for his many crimes, at least let him fade into obscurity.



Other than the ballroom (if it gets built), most of the other Trump changes can be undone. The penis envy flagpoles can be torn down, the pavement over the Rose Garden can be jack-hammered up and the roses re-planted. The gilt can be removed from the Oval Office, sold and the money given to charity ( I suggest an LBGTQIA cause), likewise whatever gilded chandeliers and toilets that get installed in the ballroom.



But the most important thing a Democratic president can do to show the era of Trump is over, is to rename the ballroom… I don’t care what he or she renames it, as long as we don’t leave Trump a legacy by keeping it named after him.
