STOP Torching Teslas! [1]

Elon Musk deserves to have his companies burned to the ground. I admit to initially feeling indifference to the reports of burning Tesla cars, charging stations, and dealerships. I was amused hearing that someone removed all the wheels from every Tesla in a parking lot. However this only helps Trump switch the subject and it distracts from the damage that Trump and Musk are doing to the country, the federal government and the world.

We are up against a well planned and orchestrated attack on law and governance so billionaires and corporations generally and Donald Trump and Elon Musk personally can suck as much wealth from public sources as possible (with a pinch of petty revenge). To stop this, we need to Republicans in Congress to feel backing Trump is bad for them. For that to happen, we need to expand the number of Americans who are mad at the Trump Presidency in Red states and Red districts.

Violence against Tesla works contrary to that purpose. It paints Musk as the victim. It reminds people of what they fear and dislike about Democrats, the Left, and cities. It makes it harder attack Musk and Doge or to argue for a Tesla boycott or to attend a protest.

Lastly, it paints Democrats as hypocrites and that unfortunately is practically our brand with much of America. Once you start ignoring, tolerating, and even celebrating political violence because it’s done on your side and against your enemies, it becomes really difficult to attack any political violence.

So please boycott Tesla. Enjoy it’s stock price’s decline. Wish that the decline accelerates. But don’t celebrate or condone violence against Tesla. There is too much at stake.
