KTK Super Bowl

My first Kitchen Table Kibitzing diary was in July, 2013. With the exception of last year’s trip to Vietnam I haven’t missed any.

We have been invited to a Super Bowl party for many years. Though having virtually no interest in the game, we attended to support good friends who were important in our lives. Plus food. There was a conflict. My KTKs are a Sunday feature. My Sunday ONDs publish late, so no problem. But KTK at 5:30 was. I had had problems with publishing from the queue (since resolved), and the party location had no wi-fi. So I brought my laptop, drove around their neighborhood looking for an unsecured network, and blogged from my car. This worked for a while, till my hosts finally got wi-fi.

At last year’s party we noticed some speech difficulty from the host’s wife. We learned she was diagnosed with ALS. A few months ago we invited the couple for dinner, which turned out to be a very difficult undertaking, though they said they appreciated it. We were certain that the days of the large SB parties were over. Not so; it’s happening today and we are going. We are supportive no matter what.

So I will queue this diary and assume it will publish. If I can find an opportunity I’ll join in, but I suspect we’ll be focussing on being helpful to C.

Last minute addition. Safeway has really nice mushrooms which I use for the stuffed mushrooms I bring to the party. Today they went from $3.99 to $4.99, 25% inflation.
