ACIM Tuesday Lesson 15-21, Text Chapter [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2025-01-21 Discussion Groups When I started reading ACIM discussion groups were like mushrooms. My lesson pal was always finding them. My ears were always open to them. The first one I ever attended seriously every week influenced my idea of how exactly they should be managed. The chairs were arranged in a circle. The facilitator of this group was a stickler for doing the lessons. At the beginning of each meeting he would ask each one in attendance what lesson they were on and what their plan was to go forward. You were expected to be serious about daily lessons. I thought the facilitator was a bit frantic about the lessons. He went through them continuously and had been through them five times or more. And every night before he went to bed he read the next day’s lesson. Which I thought was fudging the rules just a bit. The next group I seriously attended was again in a side room of a Unity Church. This one was the same circle of chairs, this time around a table. We would take turns reading a paragraph aloud. If you had something to say you said it. Thinking back it was kind of like a structured Quaker meeting where silence was reading and anyone could talk. I have never found a repeat even close to this. The lecture I went to most recently was advertised as being based on A Course in Miracles. OMG. She was selling some kind of Goddess class which she expected to be set for life as far as money was concerned. Pure gibberish. I probably could find lectures if I drove. But I don’t make the effort. The Curt Morrow was the finest lecture I ever went to. That tracks back to my first study group. The facilitator of that group was the last traveling encyclopedia salesman. He was very good at getting people to his groups. He talked some stewardesses from Texas into coming. They told us about Curt Morrow. Maybe that is the way it went. Maybe not exactly. But there ended up being enough money to get Curt Morrow to make a stop at my stomping grounds on his last trip. He was dying of AIDS and on his way to Ken Wapnicks establishment in New York for his final days.
