The H1B Visa Program Should Be Stopped Immediately [1]

I am a IT professional (>40 years of professional experience) with BS, BSCHE, and MS IT degrees which are specific to IT use in different industries. I have IT specific certifications in order to substantiate and bolster my credentials as an IT professional. I was engaged as a full time individual and organizational contributor at IBM, Amdahl, Sun Micro-systems, SGI, and EMASS for 14 years and as an organizational contributor for IT initiatives facilitated for DVA and DOD for 8 years. I also spent 16 years as a private contractor work for / consulting with large corporations regarding upgrading / replacing legacy IT services.

As a private contractor I became intimately aware of H1B IT resources used by corporations and government because their credentials and qualifications were suspect. I came to the conclusion that US Corporations and US Federal, State, and local government organizations were paying H1B Visa contractors essentially minimum wages which was used to significantly reduce the compensation of credentialed / certified IT Contractor resources. Before I had the opportunity to participate as a contractor for IT services with US Corporations and US, State, and local government organizations, I had no opinion regarding the H1B Visa program. After watching how this program was being used to drive down the compensation of IT professionals (both full-time and contractor) by importing what is essentially "slave labor" for these organizations, I can now tell you that the H1B Visa program should done away with because what was a program which I thought was based on good objectives, i.e. retain the best and brightest foreign students graduating from US Academic Institutions, has been changed by US Politicians and US Corporations to import what is essentially "slave labor" to drive down the wages of US citizens in order to increase corporate profits.

The H1B Visa program has resulted in generating the largest group of illegal immigrants, H1B Visa Over-Stays, in the US. The biggest con of President Elect Trump is that he wants to deport illegal immigrants but he supports this program which has resulted in the largest group of illegal immigrants in the US today.
