Stop The Whining. Be Proud. Fight Back. Resist! [1]

Immediately after the election, I found it nearly impossible to watch any of the political shows on MSNBS, CNN, and FOX. The Democratic hand wringing and second guessing, combined with all the snarky Republican bragging, made me sick. Still does!

If we can safely assume that the unholy bromance of Trump, Putin, Musk, Thiel and other U.S. oligarchs didn’t steal the election by some as yet undiscovered diabolical plot, then the simple truth is that the Dems got beat by a plurality of Americans. Why?

What the hell happened this presidential election cycle? In no particular order, my initial take on some of the key voting blocks or factors that brought us Trump Presidency 2.0:

(1) RACISTS: Most, if not all, of the country’s racists surely voted for Trump. Not just the white supremacy groups like the KKK, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and Neo-Nazis, but other folks with less virulent concerns about people of color, especially those crossing our southern border.

(2) MISOGYNISTS: Most, if not all, of the country’s misogynists voted for Trump, including those who think women are equal and should be able to vote, but are simply just not ready to be President. That last group reminds me of all those white football analysts back in the day who said black men could never be successful NFL Quarterbacks, because they weren’t smart enough.

(3) ANTI-LGBTQ+ HATERS: Most, if not all, of this group voted for Trump. Many of these people believe that it’s the WOKE position of the Democratic Party to let children change their birth sex in grammar school without parental consent.

(4) THE RIGHT WING MEDIA: The right wing media dominates the airwaves. AM radio, for example, is a virtual wasteland of right wing lies and incendiary talking points.

(5) LOW INFORMATION VOTERS: These Americans don’t have in-depth knowledge of the economy; the issues at stake in Ukraine; the future of NATO; the evidence pertaining to Trump’s many actual and alleged crimes; the Supreme Court’s undermining of the rule of law; and so much more. Yet, these low information voters can regurgitate the easy-to-remember lies and conspiracy theories espoused by the MAGA crowd.

Stop The Whining. Fight Back. Resist!

Those kissing Trump’s ring now should be ashamed of themselves. After he takes office, Trump will implement, or try to implement, the Draconian policies promised on the campaign trail. Over the weeks and months ahead, the defense of our Constitution will take center stage. The fight for a more perfect Union will require strong and persistent resistance.
