Time is short, the hour is late [1]

In 1967 there were at least 150 reported acts of root, insurrection an open rebellion during what was called “The Long Hot Summer”. Elements of the 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions were dispatched to Detroit. NG units were activated all over and resistance to the war in VN was rapidly increasing. The troubles were later said to have arisen from “An excess of democracy”

In 1968 MlK was associated and Nixon was elected on a “ law and order” platform that was blatantly bigoted and divisive in design

In 1980 Reagan was elected. Unions were decimated, government formally became a business and neoliberal nonsense from the Nixon years was the mantra "Democracy is the problem"was the message”

That was yesterday. Today the war against democracy in The Homeland is all but over. But that is no longer the goal.



The goal today is repudiating The Enlightenment. And that goal is well within reach of those waging war on The Enlightenment In a few moths the entire national government will be controlled by those who will not tolerate either democracy or principles of The Enlightenment.



A long time ago when reading about WW2 I was puzzled by photos of large numbers of people being herded by a few soldiers with bolt action rifles. those old photos are hauntingly prescient today.



None of us can escape what is coming All we can do is decide how we will act when it arrives.

Time is short and the hour is late. Will we allow fascists to determine our fate?
