Another school shooting - this time in a Christian school named “Abundant Life” - UPDATE 3 dead [1]

This story appeared on my news alert from CNN :

“Multiple people have been injured in a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, police say. The Madison Police Department said it was responding to the shooting at 10:57 a.m. Monday and urged people to avoid the area around the school. “Multiple injuries have been reported. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it is available,” police said in an incident report. This is a developing story and will be updated.

I hope to God that no one has died. But if not this time, there will be fatalities in one soon. American conservatives keep telling us they revere the sanctity of life. They spare no effort or expense to ensure that bundles of cells are accorded personhood and civil rights.

But when the baby is born, it loses their protection. They will do nothing but talk about placing an armed guard behind an armored door to thwart homicidal maniacs. Any idea that a potential mass murderer should be denied a weapon to execute their (almost invariably his — except in this case it appears it is a female student) catastrophic ambition is pooh-poohed as an unconstitutional intrusion in an individual's right to arm themselves with war weapons.

America did not start with its Constitution. Ground zero of the new republic was a Declaration of Independence staring clearly in its preamble

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

What happened to “Life”?

Nothing will change. For all its sanctimonious rhetoric, the right cares little for life. The Supreme Court conservatives, religious to their core, have further enabled the killing of Americans by their fellow citizens. And the major law and order initiative by the incoming administration is directed against millions of hard-working, undocumented aliens trying to earn a living making every American’s life better. Meanwhile disgruntled malcontents can live their Rambo fantasies with the most vulnerable as their victims.

It’s a disgrace.
