[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-12-15 Drones are now both a weapon of war and used for terrorism. I’ve felt for a long time that one day, terror attacks would come to us via Drones. They’ve already been established as a key weapon of war in Ukraine by both sides, and in other countries. Almost anything can become a weapon of terror and war. Especially something has hard to defend against as a Drone, which practically guarantees its use this way. Northeast Night Drones all Over the Place The news this week has been flooded with reports of drones flying in the skies all over the Northeast and other places. With authorities playing dumb or ignorant about their origin, this is obviously of concern. NSA Advisor Condoleezza Rice Whomever in government who claims they did not see Drones becoming a problem one day should be fired immediately for lying or stupidity. Bush Stupidities It’s reminds me of when the Bush administration pretended surprise over the 9/11 attacks, with NSA advisor Condoleezza Rice acting “shocked” ‘that planes would be used the way they were . . and slammed it into the World Trade Center . . .This was just not something that was considered.” Turns out she was lying, as she herself admitted later at another 9/11 private hearing. The Bush administration, despite dire warnings from the former Clinton administration, held back doing anything until that 9/11 disaster occurred. Probably because it did not want to force the airlines to incur the expenses to beef up security. Drones can be Dangerous and Deadly A swarm of drones could kill thousands if sent towards vulnerable locations like a sports stadium. Getting back to drones, I’m actually quite surprised no terror attacks have yet been attempted here in the U.S. As far as all the current sightings, planes may account for many of them, but clearly some are indeed drones which authorities are unable to identify or explain. The obvious fact they are lit up tends to make one think they are not the work of terrorists. But it’s another example of the shear ignorance of a gun crazed country, not to see the inherent danger in this technology. They can also present problems to a plane by being sucked into an engine or colliding with a person or object on the ground. Some Possibilities I have some theories of who or what is behind this recent bout of drone reports: Drone lights for sale, cheap! 1 — Nobody in particular. With advancing technology, more and more drone owners are flying them with lights at night so they can see and guide them and because it’s cool. See photo of an internet search result on the right. The search included dozens of places selling lights of all colors for drones. Drones combined with plane lights which one sees in any area near an airport at night where we are seeing lots of lights in the sky. The most sightings are being seen in populated areas like the Northeast, where the most drone owners likely are. This is the most likely origin of the sittings, civilian hobbyists. 2 — A secret government project designed to test public reactions since they are becoming worried about the growing problem and they be contemplating some type of bans or additional regulations as to what can be sold or flown. 3 — Terrorists would be foolish to test their drones at night with lights, drawing possible detection of their plans. 4 — Authorities are now trying to draw public attention to drones to stoke fears with the intention of regulating them, making them illegal, or for some other unknown reason. Defenseless? The new proposed NRA symbol. If the authorities truly are ignorant of what is going on, it’s a very serious matter for concern. We have made ourselves virtually defenseless against potential domestic, foreign and criminally motivated terrorists. Not much different from the crazy proliferation of guns in America, with few acknowledging the dire consequences. One friend suggested they add a drone symbol with the guns to the NRA logo.
