Science Fair Winner Dropped by Church [1]

The Sunday after I took first place in our local science fair, my evangelical pastor called me into his office. "You are defiled by the Devil!", he fumed. " Science is Satan's tool!.Get down on your knees and beg Jesus to rid you of this evil!!!". As a well-behaved 14 year old girl, I was too shocked to disobey him. So I mumbled a prayer and left in tears. My parents were proud of my scholastic achievement and the whole family left that church. I, however, also left religion all together the day I left for college on a scholarship.
